A 30 day food delivery challenge you can actually finish

By the FeedMeNot team. Updated 20 October 2026.

Going from several orders a week to none is a big jump, and big jumps tend to fail by day four. This plan lowers your orders in steps so each week feels doable.

Before you start

  • Check your last month of orders and write down the total.
  • Pick your goal: fewer orders, a lower total, or none at all.
  • Decide what the saved money is for, so it feels like a trade, not a loss.

Week 1: Notice

Order as usual, but write down each order: time, reason and mood. Add a 20 minute wait before ordering. You are collecting information, not changing anything yet.

Week 2: Cut the habit orders

Look at your notes. Remove the orders that had no real reason. Keep the ones that mattered, such as a family dinner or a real hunger night. Aim for about half your usual number of orders.

Week 3: Plan your treats

Choose one or two days when ordering is allowed and put them in your calendar. On other days, cook something quick or keep a snack ready. When the urge comes on a non-treat night, use the 20 minute wait or a pretend order.

Week 4: Go as low as you can

Try one more week with only your planned treat orders, or none if you are ready. Notice how the urges feel now compared with week one.

Simple rules

  1. The 20 minute rule applies to every order.
  2. No ordering after a set hour, for example 10:30 pm.
  3. Apps are logged out between uses.
  4. Any skipped order's amount goes into savings that day.

If you slip

You will probably slip at least once. Count it, note what triggered it and move on to the next day. One order does not cancel the progress, and the notes help you plan for the next trigger.

Track the wins

Seeing the money and the streak makes the habit stick. FeedMeNot shows how much you kept after each pretend order, and the calculator shows what a month of skipped orders is worth over a year.

Common questions

Can I do this challenge if I order for family meals too?

Yes. Count only your own habit orders and keep family meals as planned treats.

What if I fail on day 5?

Note the trigger and continue the next day. The plan is built to absorb a slip, so it does not need to restart.
